SHRIMP + GRITS

Feta + Herb Crusted Salmon, by Tiffany Tisdale-Braxton

Shrimp Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup chopped red bell pepper 

  • 1/2 tsp chopped garlic 

  • 1/3 cup chopped yellow onion 

  • 12oz frozen shrimp ​[ peeled and deveined w/ tails off ]

  • 1 tsp old bay seasoning 

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice  

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder 

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika 

  • 1/2 tbsp red wine vinegar

  • 1 tsp tabasco 

  • 1 tbsp salted butter 

  • garnish w/ fresh micro cilantro [ optional ] 


Grits Ingredients

  • 2 cups chicken broth 

  • 1 cup water 

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 1/2 cup smoked cheddar 

  • 1/4 cup butter 

  • 1 cup grits 

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder 

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika 

  • 1 tsp salt 


Directions: Step-by-Step Success


  1. In a medium saucepan add chicken broth and water to a light boil over medium-high heat 

  2. Once the mixture has begun to boil add grits and cover bringing the heat from medium to high. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking 

  3. Allow grits to boil for approx. 10 min. on low until they soften. Add butter, cheese, heavy cream, garlic powder, old bay, and salt. Stir together. Cover and set aside

  4. To a medium skillet add in bell peppers, onion, and garlic

  5. Add shrimp and cook for approx. 6 min until shrimp are fully cooked

    • [ light pink color indicates doneness ]

  6. Add vinegar, tabasco, and seasonings

  7. Place in a bowl and serve!
